Mogul Wireless is an innovator in the temperature monitoring industry providing web-based wireless temperature monitoring services to hospitals and schools.
The Problem
Mogul came to Orange Peel Media looking for a long-term technology partnership, however, they had a few immediate problems that needed to be dealt with:
The existing Mogul web application was experiencing data loss while collecting data from the hundreds of sensor nodes. The initial assumption was that it was due to the enormous amount of data that was being collected. However, after careful research and analysis, we found that it was less about the amount of data, and more about how it was being collected.
Mogul Wireless’ existing client facing reports were excessive, outdated and clumsy. Orange Peel Media redesigned them and gave them a great new look, as well as increasing scalability, usability, and readability.
The Solution
Orange Peel built a scalable Ruby-powered server-side data collection application to collect and backup all incoming data. The data collector has been able to eliminate all data loss, running with 100% success, and is scaling with the expanding data collection needs of Mogul.
Orange Peel Media and Mogul Wireless continue their technology partnership and have a major overhaul of other parts of the Mogul Wireless technogloy landscape planned for late 2009.
