Artona has provided professional photographic services since 1909 and has established itself as Vancouverʼs premier photography studio. Focused on the school and graduation markets in British Columbia, thousands of students are photographed everyday.
The Problem
The Artona Group redesigned and launched a new website in mid 2008, but had problems with scalability and administration of the content. They needed to reduce content management overhead by syncing the content on a regular basis with their existing internal customer management software.
On top of syncing the content, Artona also needed a custom administration user interface that would allow them to quickly and easily update different sections of the site.
The Solution
Orange Peel Media developed a scalable XML importer which pulls the website content from their existing customer management software XML exports. The importer was developed to quickly change with the evolution of Artona's data model and includes full rollback capabilities for the Artona administration staff.
In addition, Orange Peel was able to reduce over 2500 lines of view code, vastly improving the way the Artona website runs while reducing the overall cost of future maintenance.
An entire administration interface was created to allow the Artona administrator to quickly and easily manage the content on the website without ever having to deploy a new version.
